If you feel the same way, pretty much any matte screen protector will improve the experience. Glossy screens. Unlike the rough surface of a matte screen a glossy screen has a much smoother outer polarising layer. Rather than diffusing ambient light this smooth surface tends to reflect it back quite directly, causing unwanted reflections and glare – particularly under strong direct light.

No, the nature of a screen protector is that it sits on top of the screen, and diffuses light coming from the screen. You'd have to tell Apple to make an iPad with a matte touch screen similar to how they made the touch strip on the latest MacBook Pro Amateur. I have matte screen protectors on both my SGS2 and N7. And if you insist on Apple only, you can easily add a non-reflective screen protector to a glossy display, but there is no way to un-fuzz or brighten a matte display. It's permantenly crippled. That might be another reason why they only bother with glossy displays. My eye strain comes from mixing light sources, office lighting and natural sunlight mixing in our small office. The glossy screen on the 27 also can get away with a 2.2 gamma and look great compared to my old G5's matte screen, where if I upped it to 2.2 it looked dark-- I don't know why.
